VOICES OF WOMEN OVER 50 WHO WALK/HIKE
This is a new page and a new direction for me. I applied for the Over 50 Outside 52 Hike Challenge and was accepted for their year long program that includes sponsors, 52 Hike Challenge, Osprey, Oboz, Outdoor Research. We have monthly Zoom meetings and 150 of us are meeting each other and making connections.
I've also had the fun experience of being mentored by Angela Maxwell from November through February 2022-2023. This has been an invaluable experience for myself. My 'chats' with her have been about personal growth and finding more self-confidence in my passion for walking and coming to terms with this idea that I don't have to be a famous H/W to have the same compassion as someone who has walked 20,000 miles. What binds me to the H/W community is my passion and all the walking I do on my own timeline. Showing up over and over.
These two connections and the idea of lending voices to older women who hike or walk (H/W) has been on my mind and my new goal for 2023. For now this is a 'work in progress' but I will add articles and other info as I come across it about older women H/W. I think it is worth exploring. Please stay tuned.
I want this page to reflect the voices of everyone from the casual H/W to the more well-known older female H/W's. I am I am working on questions to ask and the platform I want to use. Stay tuned...
Don't forget to check out the movie, 'Edie' for inspiration or Mary E. Davison- Author, Hiker. Pastor
