Jon Goodwin of KGW in Portland, OR leads a Let's Get Out There series. Recently I saw this interview with the Earthwalker and decided to post it here. This person who is walking all the streets in various local communities is doing something that I am working on too.
I use STRAVA to track my walk walks and then that info is uploaded to the City Strides Website where I can see all the places I have walked and track my stats for completing streets and cities and states, even countries and hiking trails. I've been tracking since 2019. I would say volkswalking is what gives me the motivation to travel and walk in so many different places. I've always been a walker/hiker. My motivation to work on completing streets really took off when I heard of Matt Green and his effort to walk all the streets in New York City. His documentary "The World Before Your Feet" is an amazing documentary. This has become a lifetime goal. Sometimes I will walk in neighborhoods doing the dead end and court streets just to fill in my 'lifemap'. I hope this motivates you too. |
